Too many of our communities are left out of conversations that shape their lives—especially Black, brown, and marginalized people of faith. “Bridging Sacred and Civic” is a free civic education course that draws from my newly completed doctoral research. It equips everyday people with the tools to understand policy, advocate for justice, and embody a faith that liberates.

This two-part virtual series will help participants:

• Connect biblical and theological traditions to modern civic issues
• Understand local, state, and federal political systems
• Learn advocacy strategies grounded in womanist ethics and Black liberation theology
• Build confidence in civic participation—from voting to policy engagement

This fundraiser helps cover the costs of launching and sustaining this free offering: facilitator support, curriculum materials, participant tech needs, and accessibility services.

Fundraising Goal

$12,000

Budget Breakdown:

• $3,000: Facilitator and curriculum development support
• $2,000: Tech platform costs (Zoom, LMS)
• $2,000: Participant stipends
• $1,500: Visual and media production
• $1,500: Outreach and community engagement (ads, emails, flyers, live Q&A)
• $2,000: Course evaluation, follow-up support, and community resource guide

Funding Levels

• Seed Sower – $25
  Helps us print one community outreach packet and fund participant Wi-Fi support.
• Liberation Learner – $50
  Sponsors one participant’s access to the full two-part course.
• Justice Builder – $100
  Supports 1 hour of live Q&A sessions.
• Freedom Facilitator – $350
  Supports 2 hours of facilitator labor and follow-up support.
• Foundation Partner – $500+
  Sponsors a mini-cohort of 5 participants and supports long-term community tools.
